"Besty"

Betsy is seen here in the mountains north of Cotopaxi, Colorado a couple of years ago. She looks right at home, doesn’t she? Cotopaxi is where I went to High School a long, long, long time ago and I like to go back and visit my old Alma Mater! Anyway, the “Smart Track” that comes standard on all Bravada’s does an excellent job both on and off the road. Now, you should know that Betsy is an Arizona vehicle. In fact, she was originally purchased by my Mother, Virginia in 1997 in Phoenix. At the time, Mom was shuttling between her patio home in Phoenix and her home here in Arvada. While in Arvada, she bought a 1996 Bravada and liked it so well that when she went back to Phoenix, she bought another one just like it only a year newer! Naturally, Mom decided to sell her place in Phoenix to become a full time Colorado resident. Lucky for me, eh? I flew to Phoenix to help her clean her place and sell it, and then drove her back to Colorado in Betsy. Betsy was quite pleasant to drive, and upon our return to Colorado, it seemed like I was always taking her when I would go to Estes Park to hike or partake in other outdoor activities, or even go to the store for routine shopping. As some of you know, my only other car is a 24 year old BMW that has no room in it whatsoever and no A/C!
So, the natural progression of things was for me to just take the Bravada from my Mom. Well, okay, she did sell it to me for an undisclosed amount but suffice it to say, I got the better end of the deal! Most of the 28,000 miles that are on her are highway miles, so she’s in really nice shape for being almost 10 years old. She doesn’t get great MPG but it’s decent for an SUV. Average is around 19 to 20 mpg. I look forward to many happy years with “Betsy”. On closing, pay attention to the 1996 Bravada driven by The Ruppel’s. An uncanny resemblance is there. But that’s another story for another day!
